Even before I had my own children I was always watching or baby sitting kids. Then I had my 4 girls and I thought it was so expensive for daycare and after school programs. And being a single parent what could I do for work and be around for my kids to teach as they are growing up. So I opened an in-home daycare center for infants to after school aged children. Then as my kids got older and started going to afterschool programs I felt it time for me to switch up a little but still work with teens now that mine were that age. So I transitioned into specialized therapeutic foster care for teens in the system, they would place 1-3 teens for as little as a week, and up to 2 years. Then as my kids started to move out I went outside the house.

For a few years I was front office manager at the doubletree hotel in Lowell, but the gratification of helping youth brought me back here to UTEC where incidentally my youngest was working at the time.  Even though she’s now in college, I have been here for almost 4 years this year. I can see myself here for at least another 4.
