LOWELL -- Concerned citizens and anti-violence activists will take to the streets of Lowell to "Take Back the Night" next Tuesday, April 4.

With April being Sexual Assault Awareness Month, the United Teen Equality Center (UTEC), an organization devoted to creating a safe environment for teens, has joined together with Middlesex Community College, the Rape Crisis Services Center of Greater Lowell, and the Lowell Police Department to organize a rally to march from Middlesex Community College to City Hall.

At City Hall, demonstrators will display art while survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence speak out. There will also be musical performances including singer/songwriter Faythe Webster.

"Take Back the Night is an event for the women and men of our community to join together to voice our right to feel safe in our neighborhoods, and to call for an end to sexual and domestic violence," said UTEC's Youth Development Director Jessica Cohen. "This is a community event and we invite the entire community to attend; men women and children," said Cohen.

Everyone is invited to meet at Middlesex Community College's Lowell Campus on Merrimack Street at 7 p.m. prior to the march.
