The Individual Giving Coordinator/Officer is a new position, reporting to the Director of Development. The person in this position will be key to developing long term financial sustainability by diversifying UTEC’s funding base to include more, larger, multi-year gifts from individual donors. The Individual Giving Coordinator/Officer will also support UTEC’s Capital Campaign by helping to secure donations from building suppliers and contractors.

The Individual Giving Coordinator/Officer will spearhead these efforts and develop a new major fundraising campaign plan, in recognition of our upcoming 10th anniversary, to strengthen UTEC’s long-term capacity for sustainable program expansion. This effort will be supported by a Development Committee of the Board of Directors, a new donor database, and a versatile donor stewardship program. Increased capacity in fundraising will lead to the ability to expand and enhance programming, serving more youth.

Challenges of the position: This is a new element of UTEC’s fundraising strategy, and so the Individual Giving Coordinator/Officer must have a “Start-up” mentality to put all pieces of this system and its related campaigns in place. The Individual Giving Coordinator/Officer will also need to work with donors outside of Lowell, stewarding donors who are out of the immediate travel area.

• Create, develop and implement a 10 year anniversary campaign
• Carry and maintain a portfolio of major donors and be the primary contact to steward those donors
• Act as lead staff for UTEC’s annual donor breakfast
• Take part in weekly Moves Management meetings with Development Staff and Executive Director
• Support UTEC’s Capital Campaign by soliciting donations and discounts from building suppliers and contractors
• Work closely with the Executive Director to follow up on new contacts
• Cultivate new major donors for UTEC
• Grow UTEC’s income from individual donors by at least 15% over 5 years.
• Write compelling proposals and help to edit other marketing materials
• Create and present simple and effective reports for the Director of Development and Board of Directors on progress of individual donor campaigns
• Schedule, plan agenda, and lead meetings with past and potential donors
• Ensure that proper records are kept for all gifts

Requirements of Position

• Bachelor’s degree or higher
• 2-5+ years Development experience
• Great communicator, both written and oral
• Own transportation and valid license a must
• Must have a flexible schedule, be able to attend meetings/events outside of normal business hours
• The ability to work well with a diverse team of colleagues
• Must have ability to work off-site, and supply own computer and telephone.
