Shirley Antoine, a bright-eyed, beautiful, baby girl, was born in Harlem, Manhattan, NYC to proud parents of Haitian descent. She later moved to New England where she furthered her education in Lowell, Massachusetts. While in Lowell High School, Shirley played sports and participated in several student organizations.

When she heard about the United Teen Equality Center (UTEC) in 1999, she was determined to get involved. As one of the original teen members, Shirley made quick bonds with other members and was in a dance team. She, along with her team, performed at an annual Asian Water Festival and for World AIDS day. Now, she is able to give back to the organization that has helped her grow and is currently working for UTEC and AmeriCorps! Upon graduating from Lowell High School, she pursued her baccalaureate degree at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Health, language arts, and education were always fields that interested her; she received her Bachelor’s of Arts in Spanish. Shirley enjoys serving and helping her community especially the young population; she looks forward to having a bright, happy future.
