Louie Diaz is a Puerto Rican native who grew up in the neighboring city of Lawrence, MA. As a teenager Louie had struggles and faced some hard times, but he overcame these challenges to become the person he is today. Louie has been a substance abuse and mental health counselor, lectures at a college and volunteers for a minimum security state prison facility. Louie has studied and researched gangs for a number of years and recently was chosen from a group of qualified individuals to fly to San Antonio, Texas to receive intensive training on gangs. After dedicating many years to voluntarily facilitating groups for the Spanish speaking community at a correction center, Louie was hired as the assistant clinical director. Louie left the criminal justice field in 2011 to work at UTEC as the Streetworker Supervisor. Louie has a strong passion for what he does and has received numerous awards from different organizations and been featured in various newspapers for his commitment to street outreach.
