Youth Organizer, Geoff Foster, was born in Framingham, MA and in 2004 became a resident of Lowell. Geoff has years of experience working with UTEC’s program of youth-led policymaking as an AmeriCorps Member. Over the past four years he has advocated and worked with many non-profit and non-governmental organizations for various different causes ranging from Humanitarian Awareness in Northern Uganda  to being involved with student organizing in Lowell to bring about accountability in state funding for UMass Lowell. His experience working and volunteering locally gave Geoff experience in empowering young people and discovering the talent and potential they posses to become self-motivated agents of change.

Geoff’s main responsibility at UTEC is helping to coordinate their statewide youth-organizing program called Teens Leading The Way (TLTW). TLTW is a statewide coalition of young people who seek to create lasting change through policymaking.

Geoff is a graduate of the 2010 Commonwealth Seminar at the Statehouse, attended the 2010 U.S. Social Forum in Detroit, and is the second person ever to be awarded UMass Lowell’s Matthew Drouin Scholarhip, which is awarded annually to a student who has effectively enabled the University community to engage in public discourse of controversial issues.
