UTEC & AmeriCorps Visits Fenway!

The Massachusetts Service Alliance donated a bundle of tickets to the Red Sox game against the Oakland A's to the UTEC AmeriCorps crew. The crew was able to bring a group of young people with them to the game which to some of them was their first Red Sox game ever! It was a great time and we all hope to be able to go back sometime soon!

Writer's BLOC & Poetry Slam - Persona Boutique

UTEC's poetry program Writer's Bloc held an open mic and poetry slam to help promote the new program and showcase some of our very talented young people. The open mic and slam were open to youth ages 15 - 23 and turned out to be a great time! We had a great turnout of poets, rappers, vocalists and musicians and gave some awesome prizes away throughout the night!

March 26th

On Friday morning, Carline reached a new height in her young career as a youth organizer!

Carline was selected to speak at the 2012 National Youth Organizing and Education Reform Conference at Harvard University. She spoke on a panel about her life experiences at UTEC and how Youth Organizing doesn’t just allow her to change her world, but it also allows her to transform herself. We have footage of her presentation to around 100 people that I’ll be happy to share later, but if you see her please give her a pat on the back. She represented UTEC wonderfully and she is, as we are, very proud of the transformation she has made over the past three years.

Mad Love, Carline!
