THANKS!!!

THANK YOU!!!

Thank you for supporting UTEC's "Building Our Dream...One Step Closer!" event on April 12, 2007.

UTEC's teens were delighted with the success of the event, and what it means for the future of youth organizing in Lowell. Each teen was so happy to be able to show you exactly what they bring to the UTEC family.

Your generous donation helped UTEC raise over $25,000 towards building our dream of a state of the art, environmentally sustainable, permanent youth and community center in Lowell. This has given us a solid start on reaching our campaign goals for the year, and we are so thankful for your support.

Your generosity and dedication to the youth of Lowell is incredibly important--again, thank you for the support!

"What's A Day At UTEC Really Like? "

Teens house dance at UTEC. Teens unlearn stereotypes and prejudices at UTEC. Some seek help finding a job. Others come looking for a lawyer. Many come looking for a staff to talk to about the events of their day. Teens involved in our Leadership Team prepare budgets and bylaws and then move on to planning for their meeting with the Mayor. Those involved in Young Women's Activism research new stories for their youth-led, social change magazine. A young man in our organizing group talks about ways to increase the number of summer jobs in the city. Another young women came in for advice about her abusive boyfriend. Teens cry at UTEC. Teens argue at UTEC. Some come to "squash" fights at UTEC. Young people feel safe at UTEC. And on a regular basis, teens surprise outside adults with their maturity and commitment to UTEC. Ultimately, young people come to UTEC to help build a stronger community, both in and out of their center.
